Douglas Dalton Markin

April 12, 1946 — June 5, 2017

Douglas Dalton Markin 71, of Ozark, MO, died Monday June 5, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family following a long battle with heart disease.

He was born April 12, 1946 in Cardwell, MO. He was a 1964 graduate of Cardwell High School.

He married his high school sweetheart, Joycelyn Ann Jackson, on January 27, 1968 and graduated from Arkansas State University in 1969 with a BS in Accounting. A United States Army Veteran, he served in Vietnam. He retired from Emerson Electric Company.

During his lifetime he enjoyed hobbies such as fishing, golfing, hunting, and photography. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and he loved keeping in touch with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney Dalton Markin and Bertie Ethel League, and his brother, Gary Dean Markin.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Juliette Markin of Matton, IL, Rachel Haynes and husband Allen of Springfield, MO, and Ashley Markin of Sparta, MO; eight grandchildren, Blake Taylor and his fiancé Melinda of Ozark, Kelsey Taylor of Ozark, Caleb Haynes and wife Kayla of Rogersville, MO, Jessica Taylor of Springfield, MaKayla, Kylie, and Austin Haynes all of Springfield, and Zack Allen of Sparta; nephews, Brandon Markin of North Little Rock, Matthew Jackson of Cardwell, and Travis Cude of Jonesboro; and nieces, Candice Markin Lowe of North Little Rock, Nikki Cude Harris of Senath, and Andrea Jackson McDaniel of Peachtree City, GA. He was proud to be expecting his first two great-grandchildren later this year.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home with visitation following.
