Dennis Harold Estes

October 23, 1939 — February 28, 2020

Dennis Harold Estes, 80, of Paragould, AR, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2020. This beloved husband, father, and “Granddad” grew up in Sherwood, AR, and graduated from Sylvan Hills High School. At 17, he joined Southwestern Bell, from which he retired after decades of perfect attendance. Too young for retirement, he later delighted in driving “big rigs” cross-country for MDR and Emerson Electric. He never met a stranger in all of his travels. Devastatingly handsome in his 1959 Corvette, he won the hand of Paragould beauty Nancy Dunlap and the two married in 1962. Dennis served in the Air National Guard. He was of Pentecostal faith. He loved travel, music, rom coms, playing guitar, and every single person he ever met.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, James and Roxie Estes, and his wife of 49 years, Nancy Estes. He is remembered with love and deepest admiration by his daughters and son-in-law Amy Potter, Jenny Estes, and Laura and Mike Gray, all of Paragould; grandchildren Dustin Estes of Marmaduke, Dennis Taylor and Danielle Potter, Jacob and Kary Widmer, and Seth Gray, all of Paragould; great-grandchildren Stephen, Kaiser and Frederick Widmer; Darah Tounsand; and Maya Potter; and treasured friend Elwanda Melton, who always made him laugh.

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the staff of Belle Meade and Greene Acres Nursing Home, who blessed us daily with extraordinary care and guidance through the years. The friendship, laughter, and compassion you showed our dad is the kindest gift his children ever received.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Heath Chapel with Rev. Ricky Etheridge officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens.

If one wishes to make a memorial, Dennis would be honored by contributions to Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church or to any missions program, as he loved supporting the work of missionaries.
