Clara Lorene Newberry

Clara Lorene Newberry, 93, of Paragould, passed away Monday at Greene Acres Nursing Center. She had worked in the food service industry, but she really enjoyed her time as an elderly caretaker. During her spare time, Lorene loved to quilt and sew. She also enjoyed reading her Bible. Lorene was the daughter of the late John and Cora Cannady. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Henry Newberry; daughter, Brenda Szelepski; son-in-law, Steve Maxwell; daughter-in-law, Doris Newberry; brothers, James, Gilbert, and Oliver Cannady; and sister, Jesse Holland.

Survivors included her sons, Kenneth Newberry, Gene (Debbie) Newberry, Michael (Tina) Newberry, and Eric (Gretchen) Newberry; daughters, Becky (Harry) Glover, Joy Darlene (Charles) Thrasher, Joan Newberry, Rita (Greg) Phair, and Kathy Maxwell; son-in-law, Bob Szelepski; 28 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Visitation is Wednesday evening from 6-8 at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral is Thursday at 11am at Heath Colonial Chapel. Burial is at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers are Nick, Eric Jr., Drew, and Theron Newberry, Phil and Luke Glover, Jason Maxwell, and Daniel Ashby. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Thrasher, Gary Phair, Michael and Kenneth Newberry, and Brian Barnes. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
