Vernon Wayne Holcomb, 85, Paragould, departed this life, Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. He was born December 17, 1926, in Cardwell, Missouri to the late Luther and Ida Toombs. He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Bonnie Miller, Lurlie Todd and Alma Jackson, brothers, Harold Holcomb and Leslie Holcomb, step daughter, Janet Westbrook, grandson, Jeff Holcomb and granddaughter, Julie Kelly Jones. Vernon was a retired supervisor from L. A. Darling Co. and was a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife; Joy Holcomb, of the home; children: Larry and Iretha Holcomb of Paragould, Hershel and Brenda Holcomb of Flowery Branch, Georgia, Karen and Larry Beliew of Paragould, Donna Ruth Sullivan of Kansas and step son, Mike Boyd of Paragould; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and three special sisters-in-laws: Hildred Gilmore, Ollie Winn and Anna Boyd. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:15 PM, Wednesday, at Heath Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, 3:30 PM at Cardwell Cemetery with Brother Dewayne Smith officiating. Pallbearers are John Dillon, Clint Beliew, Doug Beliew, Steve Jackson, Michael Boyd, and Steve Gray. Memorials may be made to Beech Grove Methodist Church or Cardwell Cemetery.
