John Willis McKenzie

U.S. Veteran

John Willis McKenzie, 89, of Paragould, AR, passed away, Wednesday, April 18, at his home. He was born April 30th, 1922 in Paragould, the only child of the late John Harold and Elizabeth Brown McKenzie.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Jane Schreit McKenzie of the home; daughter: Ann McKenzie Noland and husband, Brian Noland of Keller, TX; grandchildren: John Paul McKenzie Noland and Emily Catherine Noland; sister-in-law: Mary Ann Schreit of Paragould; brother-in-law: Joe Tannehill of Panama City, Florida, several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to wonderful caregivers and friends, Mary Damron, Tina Weston, Kat Garner, Cynthia Presson, Christie Burnside, Marsha Baker and Dierkson Hospice.

A World War II Veteran, he served in the 8th Air Force, 96th Bomb-group. He flew 17 missions as a bombardier. He was an Eagle Scout, avid hunter and fisherman, but he loved golf. He served his community as Chamber of Commerce President, First United Methodist Church Administrative Board, United Way Chairman, Arkansas Methodist Hospital Board Chairman, and local businessman as co-owner of White Printing, Inc.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday at First United Methodist Church. His life will be celebrated following visitation on Saturday 2:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Leslie officiating.
